// extraordinary dvd player
Your DVD library, streamed to every screen in the house.
Your DVD collection is sitting in a folder doing nothing. Extraordinary DVD Player turns it back into discs you can actually watch — with their full menus, their scene selection, their extras — on the Apple TV in the living room, the iPad in the kitchen, or Vision Pro. Nothing is converted. Nothing leaves your house.
Player apps coming to the App Store. The server is free and open source, forever.
Most media servers throw away everything that made a DVD a DVD and leave you with a wall of filenames. Extraordinary DVD Player runs the disc's actual navigation: you land on the menu the studio built, with its motion, its music, and its scene pages, and you drive it with your Siri Remote. Pick a scene and you land exactly where the disc says you should — because it's the disc deciding, not a guess based on chapter numbers.
One app, one purchase, every screen — as each platform lands it simply appears. The server always runs on a Mac.
Extraordinary DVD Server is a small menu-bar app for the Mac. It reads your library, drives the DVD navigation with libVLC, and streams to your devices over your own network. It is free and open source under the GPL — and it is not on the Mac App Store, because doing this job properly needs deeper access to media than the sandbox allows.
Free, notarized, universal (Intel & Apple silicon), macOS 13 or later.

About your discs. Extraordinary DVD Player plays decrypted rips that you supply. It contains no copy-protection circumvention of any kind and will not rip discs for you — bring your library with the tools you already use.
Video playback uses VLCKit (LGPL 2.1); the server is GPL. Full acknowledgements ship in the app and with the source.
