Privacy Policy

Extraordinary DVD Player (Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, Mac, Apple Vision Pro) and Extraordinary DVD Player Server for Mac. Last updated 2026-07-25.

Extraordinary DVD Player collects no data. None. No accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no third-party tracking SDKs.

Nothing leaves your home network. The app talks only to a copy of Extraordinary DVD Player Server running on your own Mac, over your own local network. RobotArmy operates no server that receives your content — there is nothing for us to sell, share, retain, or delete.

What it stores, and where

Local Network permission

On iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, the app asks for Local Network access. It is used for exactly one thing: discovering your server via Bonjour and connecting to it. That is what lets the app work without you typing in an IP address. It is never used to scan, inventory, or report on your network, and nothing about your network is transmitted anywhere.

Microphone

The app never records audio and never transmits anything from your microphone.

On iPad, if you opt in to the experimental WebRTC menu transport, iOS shows a microphone permission prompt. This happens because the WebRTC audio stack opens the system's voice-processing audio path even for a receive-only connection, and iOS requires the permission string to be present for that path to open at all. Menu audio flows to your device, never from it. The Apple TV build ships with this transport disabled entirely, and on iPad the prompt appears only if you deliberately turn it on in Settings.

Network access

The app contacts only your own server, on your own local network. It contacts no internet destination — no RobotArmy service, no analytics endpoint, no artwork lookup. With your internet connection switched off entirely, the product works exactly as it does with it on.

One caveat, stated plainly: the server's optional browser interface currently loads one playback library (hls.js) from a public CDN (jsDelivr), so your browser contacts that CDN when you use the web page. The native apps never do this. We are moving that file into the server itself so no part of the product touches the internet.

The server is open source

Extraordinary DVD Player Server is free and open source under the GPL. You do not have to take our word for anything above — you can read exactly what it does, and change it if you disagree.

What we never do

Children

This app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
