Extraordinary Contacts — the contact manager for iPhone,
iPad and Mac.
Last updated 2026-10-14.
Your contacts stay in your own accounts. Extraordinary Contacts
works on the contacts already in your iCloud, Google or Exchange accounts,
and keeps its extras in your own iCloud Drive. No account with us, no
analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party tracking SDKs.
Nothing reaches RobotArmy. We run no
server for this app. There is no copy of your contacts anywhere we can
see, so there is nothing for us to sell, share, or retain.
Your contacts
- Contacts access. The app asks your permission to read and change
your contacts. Changes are saved back to the account each contact belongs
to, and your phone or Mac syncs them with that account as it always
does.
- A small hidden link in each contact. To recognize a person across
your devices, the app adds a web address starting
excontacts:// to a contact the first time it needs one. It
holds an identifier, the contact's circle and whether it is archived.
Because it is part of the contact, the company that holds that account
(Apple, Google or Microsoft) stores it like any other field.
- Moving a contact between accounts copies it into the account you
choose, using your own sign-ins on your device.
Notes
- iPhone and iPad: the app does not read the notes on your
contacts.
- Mac: the app shows and edits the note on the contact you have
open, and reads the notes of contacts you merge, move or delete, so none
is lost. It does this through Apple's Contacts app on your Mac, which
macOS asks you to allow once. Notes stay on your Mac and in your accounts.
They are not sent anywhere else.
- While a photo is being saved to a contact that has a note, the note is
held for a few seconds in a file on your Mac, so it can be put back if
anything is interrupted. The file is cleared when the note is back.
Your iCloud Drive
Extra photos, posters, previous jobs and the Trash live in an
Extraordinary Contacts folder in your iCloud Drive. The Trash holds
the contacts you delete, compressed, notes included, until you empty it.
Apple stores the folder under
Apple's privacy policy,
end-to-end encrypted if you have Advanced Data Protection on. RobotArmy
cannot access it. You can see it in Finder, and it stays if you delete the
app.
Every network destination, in full
This is the complete list. There are no others.
- Your contact accounts (iCloud, Google, Exchange) — through your
device's own sync. The app does not connect to them itself.
- Apple iCloud Drive — the folder above.
- Apple Maps — only when you paste an address that has no ZIP or
postcode. The address is sent to Apple to find one. Nothing else goes
with it.
- A web page you drag a picture from — when a browser hands over a
picture's address instead of the picture, the app downloads that one
picture from that address.
- Apps and sites you open from a contact — calling, messaging, mail,
LinkedIn, Signal and the like open in their own apps, under their own
policies.
- robotarmy.com — never.
What stays on your devices
- A cache of your contact list, so the app opens instantly.
- A log on the Mac in Library/Logs/ExContacts, for troubleshooting.
It stays on your Mac and is never sent.
What we never do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or passwords collected by us.
- No analytics, advertising identifiers, or third-party tracking SDKs.
- No copy of your contacts, notes or photos on any RobotArmy server.
- Nothing sold or shared with anyone.
Children
This app is not directed at children and collects no personal information
from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes and the new version is posted
