// extraordinary cd player
The CDs in your Mac, playing on your iPhone — anywhere.
Do you miss your CD Player?
Play CDs on your iPhone, remotely.
Pop a CD in your home computer logged into iCloud, it shows up magically on
your iPhone with the same account.
iPhone app on the App Store; the Mac server is a free notarized download.
A pair of apps: a small Mac server that watches your Mac's optical drive (and any folders of audio you add), and an iPhone app that plays those discs remotely. They find each other through your own private iCloud — no accounts to create, no servers of ours in the middle, nothing to configure. If your Mac and iPhone use the same Apple ID, it just works.
You can share your library with family: on the Mac server, choose Share Library… to get a private link. A family member opens it on their iPhone (with CD Player installed) and your discs appear on their phone too — read-only, streamed from your library, using your iCloud storage, not theirs.
| Server | A Mac with an optical drive (internal or USB). Free notarized download. |
|---|---|
| Player | iPhone, via the App Store. |
| Account | The same Apple ID signed in on both, with iCloud enabled. |
| Network | Internet on both ends — playback works away from home. |
The Mac server isn't on the Mac App Store because it needs direct access to your optical drive, which the sandbox doesn't allow. It's a free, notarized download.
